What to expect during your SUP Yoga experience

Signed up for a SUP yoga class and unsure what to expect?

First of all, thank you for signing up or your interest in joining a SUP yoga class. I’ve been teaching yoga and mindfulness for 7 years and incorporated the water element aka SUP boards for the past 3 years.

Here’s what to expect:

*Classes usually start at 8 am (before the heat and winds pick up) but the time will be in your confirmation message.

*Location - classes usually take place in a quiet cove in Fanari- close to Argostoli and Lassi but again, check the confirmation message for your class, as they can move to other locations like Trapazaki or Spartia for specific requests.

*All SUP equipment provided. Most people are new to SUP so we spend the first 30 mins getting used to the board- a wonderful mindfulness practice in itself. Please let me know if you require a life jacket.

*Classes cost 35 euro for SUP hire and class but if you have your own SUP board, join for just 15 euro per class- please let me know if you have your own board.

*After we anchor down and practice yoga on the SUP boards- classes are for all levels and optional ‘harder poses’, which will likely result in falling in the refreshing water usually happen after class- It's always an option to skip poses that you don't feel comfortable doing.

*The total session last around 90 mins- time for SUP & yoga & playtime at the end of class to try more challenging poses and take some 'photos for the 'gram'!

*’ I will definitely fall in’ is the most common reason people don’t join the class. And yes, you may fall in the water, get wet, feel refreshed in the Ionian Sea, and get back on the board again.

*What to bring? sun hat, swimming costumes, towels, water and suncream. I provide dry bags on request but leave your phone on the beach, as I will take photos to capture memories.

I look forward to meeting you.

Book a session today, message me your dates on the island to supyogakefalonia@gmail.com

My Top Beaches to SUP in the South of Kefalonia

Kefalonia boasts so many beautiful beaches and scenery to explore by SUP board. This list is designed to take into account ease of access (some people do not have inflatable boards so they are limited by access and let's be honest, we don't want to carry SUP equipment down steep hilly steps). Check wind conditions before you set out and try to avoid SUP boarding in the late afternoons and evenings when the winds typically pick up. Your best experience will be leaving earlier in the morning (ideally 7 or 8 am) and checking the Windly App.

1. Fanari Beach.

SUP towards St Theodore's lighthouse and continue in the same direction towards Limanaki Beach. If you are lucky, you may be able to see the turtles. I wouldn't recommend the other direction due to the congestion of ferries/ cruise ships.

2. Platis Gialos Beach (next to Costa Costa) A great spot to SUP to the beautiful White Rocks Beach, which is only accessible by boat. Go before 9 am to avoid all the tour boats.

3. Trapazaki Beach- SUP to explore the cliff coastline all the way to St Thomas Beach.

4. Spartia Beach- Interesting Sand Stone structures to explore and beautiful scenery. SUP towards Livathou Beach, which is usually quieter.

5. Spasmata Beach (near the airport)- another good spot to SUP to the beautiful White Rocks Beach which is only accessible by boat. Go before 9 am to avoid all the tour boats. Really beautiful rock formations on the route.
